A New Year A New Love

For those who do not believe that the world will end in 2012, they begin to look forward to a new year and have started writing their new year’s resolutions. Usually this list contains a lot of things we promise to change to improve ourselves. It also contains the things you promise to stop doing as soon as the New Year starts. Most of the times, these New Year’s resolutions don’t last long. It takes a month or two and soon we are all back to our old selves again. Still it is a great time to look back into the past year and see how some change can make your life and your love live so much better for the coming year.

Love Yourself More

For someone who is loveless, a new year can be seen in two different ways. You can be positive and say, “I know I will find the love of my life this year.” Or you may see the glass half empty and say, “I’m going to be another year older and I’m still loveless. What’s wrong with me?” Before you go out and look for love, you should first learn to love yourself a little more. Being loveless doesn’t mean you are worthless. You should be confident enough as yourself and not be defined by who you are with. As soon as you learn to be confident, it follows that one day someone will appreciate your true personality now that you are not afraid to show who you really are.

For those who are with someone, look back to the past year and ask yourself, “Am I happy with myself?” If you are uncertain of your answer, then think again. Have you been giving too much to the relationship and feel unappreciated? Or is it the other way around? Find yourself in the relationship and start seeking out things you can do to balance the situation. A loving relationship should be give and take. But to be able to truly give and truly love, the first person you have to love and respect is yourself.

Leave All Excess Baggage

The past year may have left you with some feelings of regret, anger or remorse. All these negative feelings are like excess baggage that you have to eventually pay for if you take them with you as you move on to the New Year. The yearend can also be your closure of all unfinished issues you have been carrying around in your mind and in your heart. It may be someone you broke up with and have never spoken to for a long time. The term “Forgive and Forget” may sound clichรฉ but that is the only way you will truly be able to make any effective resolutions for a new year. On the other hand, the issue can also be with someone you’ve done wrong and have not apologized to. Well, don’t you think it’s time to humble yourself and apologize? Trust me, the peace of mind is worth it.

Find New love

If you have been loveless for so long because of a grudge that you have been carrying all year round, this New Year can be an opportunity for closure. Let go of the past and start seeing hope for the future. Just because someone hurt you before doesn’t mean everybody else you meet will do the same thing. As the year ends, close your old doors and take a chance of opening new ones this coming New Year. Who knows? You just might find new love.

Renew an Old Love

For those who are happily in a relationship, a New Year can also mean, a new love. I don’t mean leaving your partner for another. What I mean is, this New Year is a celebration of all the time you’ve been together. It is a chance for you to show your love just how much you value your relationship. It is a chance to mend problems you’ve had. As you kiss after the New Year’s countdown, apologize for the things that you may have done wrong. Thank your sweetheart for the wonderful things he or she has done. And make a promise of love to do everything you can to make the relationship work…just like a renewal of vows as you face a New Year together.
