Date night is special for every woman. This is the night you want to feel beautiful and special. You want your man to have eyes only for you, right? This calls for the perfect hair, make up, outfit and scent. But, there are so many ways women tend to over-do things, or simply make the wrong choices, when it comes to preparing for a date. Allow me to simplify things, and offer you some very useful beauty tips to prepare you for your special rendezvous.
1. Skin Care
Preparing for a date starts the night before it. Take the time to do your skin regimen before going to bed. Dermatologist recommend these steps, for fresh, clean and fair looking skin.
-
Cleanse your face with a wash that is compatible with your skin type. Choose one that is gentle, and won’t dry your skin.
TIP: If you are unsure which one is best for you, use baby wash. If it’s gentle enough for a baby, it is also good for your face. -
Exfoliate to remove dead skin cells, that make your skin rough and look dull.
TIP: Make a paste out of some baking soda and water. Scrub your face with it, and then rinse off. Do this at least once a week, for smooth clear skin. - Use a light toner to close the pores.
If you don’t like chemicals, mix apple cider vinegar with two parts of water. Use as toner, and be pimple free with frequent use. - And most importantly, moisturize. There are a lot of expensive creams in the market. Pick one that is right for you.
I recommend using Vitamin E oil, for a youthful glow. -
Hydrate yourself well.
Drink water during the day to rid your body and skin of toxins.Spray your face with an atomizer (water in a spray bottle or Evian Atomizer), after being exposed to the sun. Dab dry with a paper towel. Doing this rehydrates your skin, and also helps lift oils from the face.
- Get enough sleep. You don’t want to have bags under your eyes, on the night of you date, do you? If you are well rested the night before, you won’t look tired, your mood would be better, and you would have the energy to party all night long. If you take good care of your skin, you won’t need much make up, because nothing beats healthy glowing skin.
- Eat Healthy – This actually has to be a regular thing, for it to have visible results. Beauty starts from within. Whatever you eat or take will affect how you look and feel. Take multivitamins as well, to supplement whatever nutrients you don’t get from your meals.
-
Body Care – It is important that you feel clean and fresh when going on a date. Take a shower, or have a long relaxing soak in a tub using your favorite baths and salts.
TIP: If you have time, let a pro do it for you. Go to a spa, and get yourself a full body scrub. It is important that you are confident that you smell nice, when going out on a date. Especially, if you think things may get intimate later.
-
Make up – When it comes to makeup, less is more. If you are meeting your date during day time, keep your makeup light and simple. Powder, brown eyeliner, light maskara, an earth colored eye shaddow, some blush on your cheekbones and some light colored lipstick, would do the trick. You can also use a concealer to cover up some blemishes.
For evening make-up, you can go for darker colors. Use a foundation that matches your skin color, and use a darker one for contour. You can use false eyelashes, so your eyes would look good even in the dark. It would also look great to ese an eye shaddow color that matches your outfit. A darker shade of lipstick would also be suitable for a night out on the town.
TIP: Always use a brand of makeup that you have used before. One that is sure to be compatible with your skin. You do not want to risk getting an allergic reaction while on your date, just because you wanted to try something new.
2. Hair Care
Whether you decide to go to a salon, or style your hair yourself, what matters is that you like how it looks on you. Having a hairstyle that you like, adds to your confidence, because it makes you feel more beautiful.
-
Treatments – Some hair textures are more delicate than others. Think ahead and apply the necessary treatments to make your hair look its best. Do not use too much chemicals that may smell funny, or may make you hair look stiff.
TIP: If you don’t like using chemicals on your hair, try conditioning with plain mayonaise. Simply apply a generous amount on your locks. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes, and then rinse it off. Wash your hair with your favorite shampoo. You will notice that your hair will have more volume and shine. -
Unwanted Hair – We all have some hair in some parts of our body that we wish weren’t there, right? Some have them on their upper lip. Some even have sideburns. Most of us have them on our underarms, legs, and bikini area.
TIP: Experts advise us that it is better to shave, than to use wax. Why? Well, for starters, it takes less time to shave, and it reduces the risk of skin irritation and redness.
3. Nail Care
Finger nails and toe nails may seem like no big deal, but believe me they matter a lot. I’m not saying a manicure is necessary. Not all women are into coloring their nails. But one thing is certain, seeing a date with dirty nails, or toe nails will be a big turn off for your date. So, make sure to trim and clean your nails.
TIP: Brush your nails with toothpaste and water. Your nails will be neat and clean in no time.
4. Oral Care
The rule with oral care when going on a date is that, you should always be ready to be kissed. Brush, gargle, floss and use a tongue cleaner too, for that fresh minty breath. Always have a mint or breath spray available in your purse, just in case you pick a meal that has garlic in it.
5. Accessories
- Clothes – Your style shows who you are. So, do not be afraid to wear an outfit that you feel beautiful and comfortable in.
- Underwear – Choose underwear that you won’t be ashamed to be seen in. Who knows where you would end up with your date, right? Also, there’s no harm in using some shapewear to improve your curves. Just make sure you can still breathe in them.
- Shoes – Just in case your date takes you for a long walk, be sure to pick shoes that you wouldn’t regret wearing. There are stylish shoes that are also comfortable. Choose wisely.
Bonus: Attitude
You are beautiful… Smile more and focus on the good things, while on your date. As the song goes, “You’re never fully dressed without a smile.” So, leave all negativity behind and just allow yourself to have fun.
